Beginning Your Journey
 |
|
Dear Friend of KACC,
Our 1.0 Membership Class will be held on Sunday afternoons (see schedule).
We are excited about that day, when dozens of you can become informed,
functioning members of our local congregation.
The schedule of the day is as follows:
1:10 p.m. Pastor/Elder Introductions in Fellowship Hall.
You’ll have a chance to meet our elders and entire pastoral staff.
At 1:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall will be ready for lunch.
Our day will end at 4:00 p.m.
Childcare with a pizza lunch will be provided for kids through 6th grade.
|
Every adult needs to confirm your reservation by responding by email
to Kathy May at kmay@kacc.com
with confirmation by Wednesday before class. Please let us if you will
need childcare. The entire day is free of charge to you. We want to
demonstrate how special you are to us.
Please provide the following information in your email response:
Number and names of adults attending 1.0 Membership
Number and ages of children 6th grade or younger for childcare.

After the meal, Pastor Mike Hammontre and I will take you through the
1.0 Membership Workbook, which covers basic doctrines of the church (salvation,
gifts, leadership, spiritual restoration, stewardship, baptism, etc.).
We’ll also explain the purpose statement of Knott Avenue Christian
Church (KACC) and how you can fit in with your talents, desires, and
gifts. I believe you’ll fully understand the privileges and responsibilities
of becoming a member of KACC.
Attached is an information packet that will help you in the membership
process. The first attachment is a list of ministry opportunities. Begin
thinking, praying, and discussing how your gifts, talents, and interests
might lead you to identify a specific ministry. All new members are asked
to serve somewhere in the church to be a “functioning member.” You
might be surprised at all the possibilities. Bring this with you on the
day of the class.

The second attachment is a testimony sheet for you to fill out based
on the instructions and the model of Pastor Mike Hammontre's testimony.
If you have already accepted Christ and been baptized, please attempt
to write out your testimony and bring it to the class. The testimony
serves two purposes. It helps you to articulate what God has done so
you can personally share it with others. Second, it helps us get to know
your spiritual journey so we can better connect and shepherd you as new
members.

If you have not yet accepted Christ, or been baptized or are unsure
of your salvation, please disregard the testimony sheet. We'll
have an opportunity to explain and clarify what salvation is at the 1.0
Membership Class.
The third attachment is what we call our "Membership Pledge". This
pledge outlines what the leadership of Knott Avenue is asking their
members to strive toward as they commit to growing in God’s grace
through this local church. We give this to you now so you can preview
it and pray about it so you won’t feel like you are being rushed
into signing something. You don’t need to sign this before you
come to class. We ask you to attend the class first. If God confirms
your desire to be a member through His Spirit after what you have heard,
only then do we encourage you to sign this pledge.

If an unforeseen situation requires you to cancel after you have confirmed
your attendance, please let us know by the Wednesday morning before that
Sunday’s class. We purchase the food necessary in advance based
upon the confirmations returned. Please help us be good stewards of God’s
finances by letting us know if your plans change during the last week
so that we don’t over purchase the amount of food. Thanks!
I'm looking forward to partnering with you to impact our community
for Christ. If you have any questions, please email the church at kmay@knottavenue.org
or call us at 714-527-5195 ext. 204.
With Christ's love,
Pastor Shane Womack
