KACC' s "All God's Children" is in a co-operative mentoring outreach program. This includes a partnership with       Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Orange County.

Here is what our group leader, Ira Brown, says about his experience:

"I was approved and matched with my little brother through Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Orange County two years ago. His name is Andrew and he is 13 years old. He has a single mom and two younger sisters. He is in 8th grade and doing well in his favorite class -science! We enjoy going to parks, movies, Boomers, Lego Land, and Angel baseball games. He is a Christian and loves the Lord. He attends a church in Fullerton with his family. I have been blessed through our relationship. These are blessings you cannot put a price tag on."

Steps & Timeline to Becoming A Big!

1. INQUIRE about the program through either your Church Mentoring Ministry Initiative Leader " Ira Brown " at 714 821-8125 or directly with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and request an enrollment application – Eric Kirst 714-544-7773.                                Time = You determine the time!
2. Contact Ira Brown at 714-821-8125 to schedule an appointment for an interview with All God's Childern leadership team.
3. CONTACT BBBS and schedule an appointment to interview with Eric Kirst 714-544-7773. Time - The time it takes to actually have an appointment depends upon your schedule. Eveing appointments typically book up first so the more flexible you can be for  this  this  one time appointment the better.
4. COME to BBBS office for interview, background & DMV check, and LiveScan (fingerprinting) – remember to bring your
 Enrollment Application, Drivers License and current Proof of Auto Insurance. The interview, including fingerprinting, takes approximately 90 minutes. Time = 90 minutes
5.   WAIT for results of background check and LiveScan and receive an Acceptance or Non-Acceptance Letter from BBBS. Time = Typically the wait time for the complete background check is 2 to 4 weeks. However, occasionally fingerprints are returned from the Department of Justice (DOJ) as “unreadable” and the DOJ will require a 2nd fingerprinting. If this happens, you will need to come back to the BBBS office for a reprint.
6. ONCE you are accepted to the Program, you will attend the BBBS Volunteer Training. Trainings are held at the BBBS office, once a month, at 6 pm and ending at 8:30 p.m.
7. WAIT to be matched with the best Little for you. BBBS begins looking for your Little based upon your interview answers and preferences and you are matched! You are matched with your Little based upon your interview responses and preferences. We take your personality, strengths and preferences and match you with a Little whose personality and responses best match you. Remember, the goal is to make the best match possible for the Big & the Little and have a foundation for a forever friendship! Being matched with your Little may take anywhere from 2 weeks to 12 weeks.
